Can credit card bills be negotiated?
It is possible to negotiate credit card debts through the program Unroll Brazil.
This program covers all debts incurred in banks until December 31, 2022, including late credit card bills and other types of debt, such as unpaid loans, for example.
The government established the minimum requirement for renegotiation to be payment in installments over at least 12 months.
The expectation is to benefit around 30 million people through this program.
However, specific trading conditions may vary depending on the bank the individual owes money to.
Some institutions are offering discounts of up to 90% on the original debt amount for those who choose to make the full payment at once.

Who can sign up for Desenrola Brasil?
Individuals with a monthly income of up to two minimum wages (R$ 2,640) or who are registered in the Single Registry.
The government estimates that this phase of the Desenrola program could benefit up to 32 million people.
Which debts will be subject to renegotiation?
The program will prioritize debts of up to R$ 5,000 per debtor. It will be possible to renegotiate both bank and non-bank debts, such as credit card bills.
For example, if they were contracted between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2022, these operations will also be exempt from IOF.
For debts that are in the range of R$ 5,000 to R$ 20 thousand, they may be renegotiated, but with the condition of payment in cash, as they will not be guaranteed by the National Treasury through the Operations Guarantee Fund (FGO).
The total trading volume could reach R$ 25 billion after discounts are applied.

What payment options are available?
For debts in band 1, there is the possibility of paying in up to 60 installments, with a minimum amount of R$ 50 per installment and an interest rate of up to 1.99% per month.
Consumers have the flexibility to make payments via debit from a current account, bank slip or Pix.
Furthermore, it is also possible to pay off debts in one go through the Desenrola Brasil platform.
However, it is important to highlight that debts with amounts between R$ 5,000 and R$ 20 thousand can only be paid in full, in cash.
The program gives preference to smaller debts, up to R$ 5 thousand, which are guaranteed by the National Treasury (FGO).
Amounts exceeding this limit are the responsibility of the creditors themselves and are therefore required as a single payment.
To facilitate decision-making, debtors have the possibility of simulating the values to be renegotiated.
