Popular pharmacy: See the list of medicines available to pick up for free

New for those who have Bolsa Família!

Adverts

In June, the federal government released something new for those who are part of Bolsa Família. Now, anyone who is part of the program will be able to get 40 types of medicine from Farmácia Popular for free.

Before, there was a list of medicines in the program, right? They were divided into two groups: one that was 100% free and the other with a discount of 90%, much cheaper than the normal pharmacy price.

But just look at the change: now, the group that is receiving help from Bolsa Família will be able to get all these medicines at a discount without spending a single dollar! Find out more below!

Starting with asthma, we have ipratropium bromide and beclomethasone, which are super allies for those suffering from this disease.

And we can't forget salbutamol, right? A real lifesaver for moments of chest tightness.

For those with diabetes, metformin and glibenclamide are on the list, and there is even regular human insulin. Not to mention the extended action versions, which are a real help.

Now, if you have high blood pressure, relax because there is atenolol, amlodipine, captopril and a bunch of people that help keep everything on track.

It even has losartan and enalapril, as well as other medications that are true partners for the heart.

But the good news is for those who receive Bolsa Família! Now, in addition to the co-participation, some medicines are also free.

There are contraceptives such as medroxyprogesterone acetate and the combo of ethinyl estradiol with levonorgestrel.

High cholesterol and diabetes

For high cholesterol, simvastatin came into play. Those with Parkinson's can rely on carbidopa and levodopa, and for glaucoma there is timolol.

And that's not all, huh? For seniors with type 2 diabetes and heart problems, dapagliflozin is also available.

And for those with osteoporosis, alendronate sodium. Oh, and for rhinitis, budesonide and beclomethasone are there to help.

So that's it, guys! A great help for those who need medication and don't want or can't spend a fortune on them. Health first, always!

Let's talk about the Popular Pharmacy, this cool Federal Government project that started in 2004, together with city halls.

The idea here is super simple: help people continue their health treatments without spending a lot. That's right, Farmácia Popular offers medicines for free or with a discount.

And best of all, this also helps save money on the SUS, as fewer people end up needing hospitalization for not following recommended treatments.

How does the network work?

Now, how does this all work, right? Well, until mid-2017, Farmácia Popular had two faces: its own network and the co-payment scheme, called “Aqui Tem Farmácia Popular”.

In its own network, which was the first to be created, the states and municipalities were in charge, offering a lot of help with medicines and even condoms at cost.

But, hey, this own network is no longer active, see? The Government cut resources.

Now, what’s really going on is “Aqui Tem Farmácia Popular”. In this system, the stop is a little different: the government covers part of the cost of the medicines and you pay the rest.

The pharmacies and private chains that are partners in the program have a price list based on what the Ministry of Health defines. And, just like with your own network, you can save up to 90% in the end.

Then that's it! Farmácia Popular is there to give your pocket and your health a boost. Pretty cool huh?

See who can get free medicine: here! Doubts? Leave it below in the comments!
