The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) today presented Celular Seguro, an application available for Android and iPhone (iOS) to block stolen cell phones. 

With just one tap, the app promises to block stolen cell phones, aiming to combat this type of crime across the country. 

The launch took place at the Palace of Justice, in Brasília, with the presence of Ricardo Cappelli, executive secretary of the Institutional Security Office, see more details below!

On the official website, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) announced a partnership with financial institutions, ABR Telecom and Anatel to offer an application that helps victims of cell phone robbery or theft. 

The new feature allows you to block stolen cell phones on your phone line and banking apps with just a few taps. 

In addition to the app, the service is also available in the recently launched web version. 

Access to the platform is via the gov.br account. To increase security, users can nominate trusted people who will be able to block the line in the event of theft or theft of the account holder's device.

Technology to block stolen cell phones

After the announcement of the launch of new app, the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Cappelli, highlighted in “X” that this initiative is part of the Government's strategies to deal with public security challenges.

According to Cappelli, the approach includes quickly blocking connections, from stolen cell phones to devices used in prisons. 

Furthermore, there is an emphasis on following the money, acting with intelligence, planning and strategic vision, using the best technological tools available. 

This approach represents public safety in the 21st century, as shared by the secretary on his social networks.

The application will initially facilitate a simplified registration process, collecting essential user information such as full name, phone number, serial number and device brand/model.

In the Terms of Use of the application to block a stolen cell phone, it was stated that Anatel will be in charge of coordinating the telephone operators.

While ABR Telecom will be responsible for receiving and validating requests for blocking mobile devices, passing this information on to partner providers. 

In relation to financial institutions, each bank has adopted specific measures, but, in general, they have the function of temporarily suspending services or blocking accounts.

It is important to highlight that blocking a stolen cell phone does not eliminate the need for the victim to file a police report in cases of robbery or theft.

Step 1: Login to Your Account

To get started, log in to the application using your Gov.br account. Enter your CPF and password when prompted.

Step 2: Agreement with the Terms of Use

On first access, the app will display the Terms of Use. Tap “I Agree” to continue and access the features on the home screen.

Step 3: Registration of Trusted Persons

Tap “Trusted People” to register contacts authorized to create reports on your behalf in cases of theft or theft. 

Fill in the fields with the contact's name, CPF, telephone number and email and tap “Register”.

Step 4: Register Your Phone

On the home screen, click on “Register phone”, fill in your device details and confirm the action by tapping “Register”.

Step 5: Using the Blocking Service

If you need to lock your cell phone, go to the home screen and tap “Record Incident”. Choose between “My Phones” or “Trusted Phone” and complete the fields with relevant information.

Step 6: Occurrence Details

Enter the date, type of situation, time and status of the incident. Tap “Issue” and the app will generate a protocol number, issuing alerts for partner institutions to take the necessary measures.
