There's one statistic that wouldn't guide you too badly when it comes to the Premier League. Despite all the talk about competitive stability, there is this type of component like a \u201cbig six\u201d, and they often occupy the precise points. In fact, considering that 2005, in just one event has a backyard club, these six damaged in the four suitable places: This became Leicester city in its profitable fairytale title season (2015-16).<\/span><\/p>\n

Newcastle's owners have promised gradual biological growth rather than the form of massive investment we saw at Paris Saint-Germain or the metropolis of Manchester (or, before that, at Chelsea, after Roman Abramovich took over) and so far that's what they've done. I already delivered. Naturally, given Saudi ownership, many think they could flip a switch and go massive at any time, but right now I'm not sure they will. Or if they do, it's always a good idea, at least with Howe around.<\/span><\/p>\n

certainly one of Howe's peculiarities is that throughout his time at Bournemouth he definitely had more misses than hits when playing the money (in relative, Bournemouth phrases). Many of their big signings failed to move the needle much or spent too much time in and out of the facet before contributing. You're tempted to conclude that he values chemistry so much that he tends to be conservative when integrating students. Either that, or he's cautious about overestimating avid gamers.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for Tottenham, now there are consecutive defeats and they come to Earth with a blow. They weren't terrible against Newcastle, just as they weren't terrible when they lost to Manchester United in midweek, but there could be a definite predictability for them in the three-5-2 formation, an essential change given the unavailability of Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison. Even if they return and are productive, Conte needs to get this team to work with a different device than 3-4-3 if that is more convenient, as sooner or later the opponents will determine them.<\/span><\/p>\n

I went to Stamford Bridge on Saturday wanting to see Manchester United after their stellar midweek display against Tottenham Hotspur. For forty-five minutes or so, particularly against an abject Chelsea, they lived up to their billing, forcing Kepa (replacing \u2013 again \u2013 with Edouard Mendy) into making a series of solid saves. And then they wilted after the wreck, allowing Chelsea to take the lead late from a Jorginho penalty (some thought Armando Broja went down too simply, but when you put both arms on an opponent inside the container, as Scott McTominay did , you are not surprised if the referee makes facets to the spot).<\/span><\/p>\n

It took a looping header from Casemiro in the damage time to make it 1-1, which was undoubtedly a fair influence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Potter had the unenviable task of figuring out a way to make it work despite several glaring shortcomings \u2013 now it's not just that some players probably don't seem to be good enough, although that is indeed the case, but also that you're turning pegs rectangular into circular holes, with Raheem Sterling being demonstrated A. The task at this stage is to try and build for the following season, finishing in the good four and, with a bit of luck, going on some sort of run in the Champions League.<\/span><\/p>\n

It can be tricky to pick where Bayern are based on Saturday's 2-0 win at Hoffenheim, simply because the opposition has become so dire, almost as if they forgot they were supposed to be a real team. Julian Nagelsmann's protector of Matthijs De Ligt and Dayot Upamecano looked pretty good (not for the first time anymore), but you're tempted to undermine it due to that fact. Not to mention: with each game these two play together, their chemistry grows and that is worrying.<\/span><\/p>\n

Or it could be, on a night like this, it wouldn't have mattered: Demb\u00e9l\u00e9 was so decent and Bilbao had been so unhealthy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Milan collectively put together a convincing 4-1 win over Monza, and the highlights were dominated by Brahim Diaz, who scored two dream goals and offered plenty of creativity and emotion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once hailed as the next big thing in his Manchester City days \u2013 and still seen enough fully that the real Madrid signed him as a teenager \u2013 Diaz remains 23 and on personal loan from Madrid. It's his third season on loan with the Rossoneri, so you could be forgiven for forgetting he's a Real Madrid player and will still be respectable. While his time has been marked by inconsistency (and it's no coincidence that Milan bought some insurance on the likes of Charles De Ketelaere during the summer season), his skillset nevertheless leaves scouts drooling.<\/span><\/p>\n

Milan have also received wishes from Rafael Le\u00e3o (no longer a surprise, and yes, they are still working on his contract) and Divock Origi (another surprise), and the victory becomes just the right reinforcement ahead of an important clash in the Champions League with Dinamo Zagreb in midweek).<\/span><\/p>\n

now we talk incessantly about how Borussia Dortmund add up to less than the sum of their materials (and never simply when some of those materials are missing) and how they rarely deliver a ninety-minute performance. Well, Saturday's 5-0 thrashing of Stuttgart turned into something of a day. Dortmund were genuine from start to finish, and while there is still room for development (looking at you, Karim Adeyemi), this has to be one of the most encouraging performances we've considered in recent weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Highlights: Bellingham superstar Reyna as Dortmund thrashed Stuttgart (USA)<\/span><\/p>\n

It was above all encouraging because Giovanni Reyna, making his first birth in the league in April, came with flying colors, marking an intention and fulfilling his typical imagination, prescience and unpredictability. Reyna's list of injuries is well documented, and it's worth remembering that he wouldn't turn 20 except next month. However, the method Dortmund are developing now \u2013 and with Marco Reus still out \u2013 this team is crying out for an extra leader with personality and likability. Jude Bellingham can't be the only one; Reyna can fill that position.<\/span><\/p>\n
