Banks, workplaces and many agencies around the world will close their doors on Veterans Day this Friday to honor the thousands and thousands of people who have served with celebrations held across the country and the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Nov. 11 federal holiday dates back to the end of the First World War and marks when Germany and the Allies signed an agreement in 1918 to end the conflict's hostilities. The fighting ceased on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the eleventh month.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the time, November 11, 1918, was considered the conclusion of the \u201cwar to end all wars,\u201d according to the U.S. Branch of Veterans Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November Eleventh as the first Armistice Day celebration to rejoice and look forward to the conclusion of hostilities with parades, public conferences, and a \u201cshort suspension of the enterprise.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

While banks do not appear to be required to close certain holidays using the US Federal Reserve system, most will be closed on Friday, including branches of Bank of America, Federal Reserve Bank, TD Financial Bank and Wells Fargo . Any banking business you do online during a holiday period will not deliver processing until the next business day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mail Resources: USPS, UPS, FedEx<\/span><\/p>\n

USPS will no longer begin mail on Friday.
