The new Bolsa Família, launched through Provisional Measure No. 1,164/2023, represents an important reformulation of the previous program, as does Auxílio Brasil.
The objective of the program is to offer an income transfer to families in poverty, in order to allow these families to have a better quality of life.
Since March 2, 2023, the new Bolsa Família has been in force and payments began to be made from March 20, according to the published calendar.
What are the changes to the new Bolsa Família?

One of the main changes to Bolsa Família in 2023 is the inclusion of an extra portion for families with more children, seeking to benefit those who are most in need and help combat child poverty in the country.
Additionally, the minimum benefit amount has been increased to R$600, a significant increase from the previous amount.
Another important change is the reorganization of payments into a monthly calendar, with fixed dates for each group of beneficiaries.
Therefore, the objective is to facilitate the financial organization of families and ensure greater predictability in receiving the benefit.
What are the values of the new Bolsa Família?
The new Bolsa Família was launched at the beginning of 2023 and brought significant changes compared to the previous program.
One of the main changes concerns the way in which the total value of the benefit is calculated, as the amount that each family will receive will depend on some variables, including other benefits to which the family qualifies.
Among the benefits that can be added to make up the total amount are: Citizenship Income, Supplementary, Early Childhood and Family Variable. The Citizenship Income benefit grants each family member, regardless of age, the amount of R$142.00.
The Supplementary Benefit comes into action when the amount received for Citizenship Income does not reach the minimum of R$600.00.
In this case, the family receives an exact increase to reach the minimum amount stipulated by the program.
For example, if the family has four members in total, the amount received through Citizenship Income would be just R$568.00.
In this way, the family will receive an increase of R$32.00 to reach the minimum R$600.00 that Bolsa Família offers.
The Early Childhood benefit is paid in the amount of R$150.00 per child belonging to the family aged between 0 and 6 years.
The Family Variable benefit is intended for families that have pregnant women or children and adolescents between 7 and 18 years old. In this case, the amount of R$50.00 is paid for each family member who meets the criteria.
Maximum income to receive Bolsa Família in 2023
Firstly, to be eligible for the benefit, the family must be registered with the CadÚnico.
Furthermore, to register with Bolsa Família the family must have a maximum monthly income of R$218.00 per member. Previously, this value was R$210.00.
However, according to the MP, if the family's income increases between R$218.00 and half the minimum wage per person, Bolsa Família is not canceled immediately, due to the protection rule.
The protection rule guarantees that even if the family's income increases, they continue to receive their benefit for another 24 months.
However, you will only receive half the amount you received before.
